Don’t miss out on this. Justin Symbol will be the next big thing in industrial metal and/or electronic dance music. Having already become the rage on the NYC alternative club scene, it’s only a matter of time before Justin Symbol rules the whole damn thing.
Following in the footsteps of Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Chemlab, some of Marilyn Manson’s dicog, and others, Justin Symbol is bringing industrial back with a slick and fresh coat of paint. While the influence is obvious, what I’ve heard isn’t nearly as “heavy” as the industrial bands mentioned. Instead, there seems to be a softer and more stripped-down approach to the music, focussing much more on the synth rather than on the driving riffs, pounding drums, or the “industrial” sounds.
However, the gory theatrics of Justin Symbol’s live performance has permeated into the music videos, perhaps most apparent in the remake of The Cure’s “Killing an Arab.”
“Killing an Arab” was the second video Justin Symbol released, however, this track isn’t on the forthcoming album, V Ω I D H E A D; it’s only available on the “Control” single. The video for “Control,” seen in the player at the top, was the first video released. Keen eyes will catch Daisy Berkowitz of Marilyn Manson in the video, which was directed by Dee Wassell. Justin Symbol explains the video:
The ‘Control’ music video is based on a dream I had. I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote it all down. It was filmed over a two day period in an abandoned insane asylum, and it deals with the fears and anxieties that dominate the subconscious.
While V Ω I D H E A D won’t see the light of day until October, Justin Symbol intends to release a new video each month for the next eight months.
Justin Symbol is expected to announce a tour to correspond with the released of V Ω I D H E A D, but for now you can catch the band on the following dates:
