Over a week ago, Bethesda Softworks announced the recommended PC requirements for The Evil Within, a horror survivor from the original creator of the genre, Shinji Mikami. Based on those specs, the game doesn’t really require the most powerful rig on the market to run it high, if you got four plus cores, a video card equivalent to a GeForce GTX 670, and 4GBs of RAM, then you should be able to run The Evil Within at the graphic levels the developer intended it to be.

However, if you’re a poor bastard like me with a rig that isn’t fully up to speed with the market, you can still get a great experience out of the game, according to Bethesda.

You won’t be experiencing the game at 1080p and you’ll likely need to turn off some features, but you will still be able to have a great experience with the game.

Gameplay is what really counts anyway, high level settings are usually for showoffs, or for gamers with low self-esteem. If Bethesda says you’ll have fun at lower settings, then I trust them enough that you will and so should you.

The Evil Within is nearly just around the corner, it releases in stores on October 14 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.

The Evil Within’s minimum requirements:

– OS: Windows 7/8.1
– GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1 GB VRAM card
– CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor
– RAM: 4 GB
– HDD: 50 GB
