Foo Fighters Do “War Pigs” On Letterman

The Foo Fighters are doing a week-long residency on Letterman, and to kick things off on October 13th they performed “War Pigs” from the Black Sabbath catalog. From screwing up lyrics to having four guitarists to using a pick on the bass, and so on, there are plenty of haters out there, but I for one think the rendition was brilliant. For me the guitars sounded great, the low end (outside the guitars) sounded great, and Taylor Hawkins sounded amazing behind the kit.

The biggest surprise might have been the inclusion of country singer Zac Brown on guitar and vocals. But it’s less surprising when you know that Brown appears on the upcoming Foo Fighters’ album, Sonic Highways, to perform the Black Sabbath classic.

Sonic Highways will be released on November 10th, and features such esteemed guests as Eagles’ Joe Walsh, Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, and Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen.

Check out the Letterman performance in the player above and let us know what you think of the cover. Personally, my favorite cover of “War Pigs” is from Faith No More.
