After a busy UFC weekend in Brazil where Jose Aldo successfully defended the featherweight strap in a five-round war against Chad Mendes, the Brazilian media reported that Vitor Befort finally confirmed a date and location for his big title fight coming up with UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman at UFC 184.
According to the reports, Belfort revealed that he will step inside the Octagon on February 28, 2015 to face the All-American mixed martial artist in Los Angeles.
On Feb. 28, I will be stepping inside the cage and winning this belt. It’s going to be good, right after Carnival. Los Angeles is a great place, the first place I lived when I moved to the United States, It was the right place. I’m really happy with this news.
Belfort was expected to fight in Las Vegas since the Nevada Athletic Commission granted him a license after promising them he wouldn’t fight anywhere but in Nevada. Oddly, that has changed lately for unknown circumstances.
The Brazilian mixed martial artist earned his shot at UFC gold after three consecutive wins in 2013 over top ten contenders, such as Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold, and Dan Henderson.
