Yesterday we brought you a first look at the cast of Terminator: Genisys as they appear in character. From the same issue of Entertainment Weekly that those images appeared, there are plot details about director Alan Taylor’s (Thor: The Dark World) upcoming sci-fi film.
As you may have already known, Genisys takes place in the year 2029 with human rebels in a war with artificial intelligence courtesy of Skynet. As in the original 1984 James Cameron film, John Connor (Jason Clarke – Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) sends his faithful friend and soldier, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney – Divergent), back in time to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke – Game of Thrones), from a Terminator sent back to kill her. Why kill Sarah? We all know this; because she’s the mother of John, leader of the resistance.
However, the Genisys filmmakers have changed things up a little.
Terminator: Genisys – Plot Details
Sarah Connor isn’t the wallflower that Linda Hamilton portrayed her as in the 1984 original and she’s not the gorilla warrior we saw in 1991’s T2. No, Emilia Clarke’s Sarah was orphaned by a Terminator when she was 9 years old. Instead of entering the system and growing all fucked up because of abusive foster homes, she was raised by an aged T-800, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator. And she’s grown up knowing her and the world’s fate, but she rejects it.
What do you think of they way the filmmakers worked in a 67-year-old T-800 played by Arnold Schwarzenegger?
