As a Vet myself, I appreciate the nod that many heavy metal bands give to our Service Members. The latest comes by way of Miss May I and their new track “Hero With No Name,” which the band wrote to specifically honor the U.S. troops. Watch the accompanying video in the player above, which highlights Service Members and their selfless dedication to their country and freedom.
Miss May I’s vocalist, Levi Benton, told Billboard:
We have met many Soldiers, even overseas at our shows, that have told us amazing heroic stories of them on patrol. All of them have told us they listen to us every day on patrol and it helps the days go by faster and get them pumped up for any action. For someone to tell us that it takes our breath away, because we are sitting in green rooms and fancy buses while they are out risking their lives! The least we could do was give them an anthem and pay our respects.
Obviously it’s a different world, but there’s a part of me that longs for the reverence and pride that our parents and their parents had for our nation… not to mention for one another.
“Hero With No Name” can be found on Miss May I’s latest full length, Rise Of The Lion, which you can order now on CD, MP3, and vinyl.
