Like, who isn’t excited for Evil Dead turning into a TV series on STARZ? It’s a stupid question to ask because we know fans want it and can’t wait to see Bruce Campbell return as the chainsaw-wielding Ash Williams. That’s right! If you haven’t heard the news yet, only god knows why. Campbell is officially reprising his role in Ash vs. Evil Dead, as the monster hunter/exorcist who has “spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terrors of the Evil Dead.”
When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is forced to come out of hiding to face his past demons. Fighting alone against the evil forces won’t be wise, so the hero will be joined by two new characters in the fight. Ray Santiago (Meet the Fockers) and Dana DeLorenzo (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas), a pair of comedy veterans will play Pablo Simon Bolivar and Kelly Maxwell, respectively. Pablo is an “idealistic immigrant who becomes Ash’s loyal sidekick” and Kelly is a wild child trying to outrun her past, she finds a “different kind of family with her fellow Deadite slayers.”
Ash vs. Evil Dead is an original series on STARZ, which will be 10 half-hour episodes. Filming is expected to beginning this spring and the premiere of the series is slated for later this year.
