If you haven’t heard, Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are set to direct the prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, going by the pre-production title of Leatherface, from a script written by Seth M. Sherwood.

The fact that this movie is getting made might not be news to you, neither the news that Sam Strike of EastEnders has been cast to play the young Jackson (aka, Leatherface). However, it might be news to you that BloodyDisgusting is reporting that Angela Bettis (May, The Woman, Toolbox Murders) is currently in talks to play Verna, the mother of the Sawyer family. As well, The Wrap is reporting that James Bloor (The Total Princess) is in final negotiations to play Ike, who also grows up to potentially wield the iconic chainsaw.
This is pretty interesting stuff. Does it mean that the Sawyer family will have more than one chainsaw-wielding maniac or that we’ll get to see Leatherface at various stages of his life? I’m ripping my skin off in anticipation!
We’ll keep you Yellers posted as news develops. But for now, let us know what you think of this project in the comments section below.
