Now that “Rampage” Jackson is off the UFC 186 fight card in Montreal (he lost his battle in court with Bellator MMA on Monday), a new fight for the co-main event may be taking shape for pay-per-view this April.
Earlier today, Benson Henderson, a former reigning UFC lightweight champion, sent out a message via Twitter telling the UFC that he is ready to exchange leather against anyone at 170 pounds. Within a few hours of the tweet, Jorge Masvidal responded to accepted the challenge two weeks ahead of UFC 186. Both fighters are eager to step inside the cage, however, the UFC has not officially announced the fight yet.
Since Masvidal was expected to meet Henderson at UFC Fight Night 63 earlier this month, but ended up facing Al Iaquinta and lost by controversial split decision, this fight may just save UFC 186. Henderson is currently coming off a solid submission win against Brandon Thatch in February.
It’s really just a matter of time before we get the official word from the UFC for the fight, so stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for the update.
