The atmospheric and spacey drone/doom/hardcore outfit (at point is it even worth trying to fit a square peg in a round hole?) Rosetta will release their new album, Quintessential Ephemera, on June 22nd. This is the band’s follow-up to their independently, and massively successful 2013 release, The Anaesthete.
Since its inception in Philly, in 2003, the band has evolved tremendously, and in 2014 Rosetta saw its first ever change to its lineup, adding Eric Jernigan on guitars and vocals. As a five-piece, the band recorded 2015’s Quintessential Ephemera, a many-layered collection of songs that are at once existential and deeply hopeful. Containing some of the band’s most moody and yet accessible work to date, it still has an upward force to it that delivers an appropriate counterpoint to the darkness and disintegration of The Anaesthete. After a 12-year journey, Quintessential Ephemera is another evolution. The first offering from the album, “Untitled V,” was premiered exclusively by Noisey; check it out here.
Quintessential Ephemera will be offered as a “pay what you want” price directly from Rosetta’s BandCamp page, here. The band will be playing shows prior to the album’s release (listed below). Additional dates will be added soon.
