After a couple of years, rumors, and a misstep by yours truly, Eli Roth‘s cannibal film, The Green Inferno, is finally getting a theatrical release.
According to Variety, Blumhouse Productions will team with Universal and Focus Features to release The Green Inferno on 1,000 screens this September 25th. Although Open Road purchased the movie two years ago at the Toronto Film Festival, the company is longer involved. About the upcoming release, Roth said:
BH Tilt [a Blumhouse label] is a forward-thinking label that is helping to redefine how genre movies can be released. I want to express my deep gratitude to the fans for their incredible support of this movie and to everyone at Blumhouse and Universal for making sure fans can experience the film in theaters across the country.
