Since February, there hasn’t been much news about the new Halloween movie, that is, not until today. Earlier this morning, we learned Michael Myers will resume his beloved killing career on the big screen in the next Halloween installment, Halloween Returns.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Halloween Returns is a recalibration of the Halloween franchise, which will be penned by horror duo Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The two previously worked together on titles such as The Collector and The Collection, Pacific Rim, and on a few SAW sequels. In addition, BD got exclusive insight that Dunstan will also be directing Halloween Returns.

Lastly, casting for Halloween Returns is currently underway and filming is expected to begin in July 2015.

“Michael Myers has taken a long break from the big screen and we know fans are eager to see him return. We are excited to be back in business with Trancas and look forward to bringing one of the scariest installments of this classic franchise to audiences worldwide,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman The Weinstein Company & Dimension Films.

“The legacy of Halloween is something that Trancas is very proud of, and I look forward to working together again with Bob and Dimension to continue that tradition,” said Executive Producer Malek Akkad.
