We all knew it was probably going to happen after Jurassic World took in $18.5 million on its Thursday preview, and it did happen. Jurassic World is now the biggest opening-weekend movie of all time, grabbing $208.8 million in the U.S. and $315.6 million overseas. Not bad for a movie produced for a mere $150 million.
Yes, that means JW has topped Marvel’s The Avengers‘ domestic take of $207.4 million Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2‘s overseas take of $314 million. BoxOffice.com Chief Analyst Phil Contrino says that JW will break $1 billion “without even blinking.”
Did you see JW? Are you a part of those figures?
