Godhunter Shocks With Social Awareness In “Cassandra Complex” Video

Godhunter has released an official video for the track “Cassandra Complex,” which can soon be found on split double-12″ comp, Godhunter vs. Destroyer of Light: Endsville.

This video, created by Frank Huang (Metal Injection‘s Pit Full of Shit), my god, if it’s not the most important heavy metal video of all time, it’s the most important of 2015. Using footage from surveillance cameras and news reels, reflects the current state of violence in our society, the world over… and it’s quite shocking.

Now, unless your place of employment frowns upon you watching the news, then you can ignore what the press release says about “Cassandra Complex” being NSFW. It is, however, for mature audiences. And if you’re like me, you’ll be catching yourself going back in the video to verify that you saw things correctly or to see how things escalated to the final shocking image of the clip.

Check out the video in the player above and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

As for what the “Cassandra Complex” is, it’s the psychological belief derived from Greek mythology that things can be known in advance, yet no one believes the person’s prediction/premonition. You know, the crazy guy on the street talking about the end of days that we all ignore… he’s got a “Cassandra Complex.”

Then there’s the heavy, purposeful, sludgy pounding of the track. Again, it has that retro ’90s sound that’s trending right now, but it kicks ass.

Endsville is a joint release between Godhunter co-owned Battleground Records and Destroyer of Light’s Heavy Friends Records on July 28th, a 180-gram gatefold 2xLP with each bands’ platter on a different color of vinyl: Godhunter’s on translucent green and Destroyer of Light’s on translucent red. Pre-orders for the vinyl are live here and the digital here.

The day following the release of the album, Godhunter and Destroyer of LIght will embark on their massive Endsville tour together, which sees Godhunter touring the East Coast for the first time. The trek will also include performances from both bands at the Death to False Metal Festival in Hamden, Connecticut, on August 14th and 15th, with Whiplash, Krieg, Secrets Of The Sky, Valkyrie, Imperial Triumphant, Nightbitch, Immortal Bird, Secret Cutter, and more.
