Last Tuesday, Jacob “Stitch” Duran a professional cutman who works in boxing and mixed martial arts fights, but mostly known for his work with the UFC was fired from his job due to comments he made about the organization’s Reebok sponsorship deal.
Apparently, Stitch was losing money on the deal and wasn’t being compensated for his past sponsors. Plus, he wasn’t thrilled with the look of the new vest, which was previously created by Tapout co-founder Charles ‘Mark’ Lewis Jr..
In addition, Stitch was disappointed that White didn’t call him and fire him directly since UFC President Dana White was the man who hired him to the UFC in 2001 after the two saw each other at a K-1 show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Now, White opens up about Stitch’s status with the UFC and says he should have never expected a call because they were never friends.
White said,
I’ve never dealt with the cutmen ever, we have a department that deals with them. We weren’t friends, we’re not friends and no he shouldn’t have been expecting a call from me. And if he’s my friend, why didn’t he reach out to me? Right? If we were such good friends and all that.
