UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos was expected to square off against UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor next week at UFC 196, but it now looks like fans will need to wait a little longer for the highly-anticipated fight.
It sounds like a very similar situation which took place last summer with Jose Aldo, and it appears like the Brazilian injured himself before the epic fight. According to multiple sources, including MMA Fighting, dos Anjos has broken a foot late last week during training, forcing him to pull out of the lightweight title fight against McGregor. The UFC is currently trying to find a replacement for dos Anjos, which we assume won’t be hard to achieve since so many fighters want their hands on McGregor for all the trash talking over the past two years.
As for the co-main event, UFC 196 will continue to move forward with another anticipated fight between UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm and Miesha Tate on March 5, 2016 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
