Following its successful screening at SXSW yesterday, CINEMAX is moving forward with a second season of Outcast ahead of the shows debut on TV in June. Outcast is a supernatural horror created by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) that chronicles the story of Kyle Barnes, “a man whose loved ones are involved in demonic possession since his childhood.”
The new drama series is entirely based on the Skybound/Image comic series of the same name, which will officially launch on TV on Friday, June 3, 2016 with a ten-episode first season.
Kirkman said,
OUTCAST has been a passion project of mine for many years. Seeing it come together has been a huge thrill for me. What we’ve been able to achieve on CINEMAX, with its unprecedented creative freedom, frankly, almost scares ME at times.
Outcast will star Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl) as Barnes, Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) as Reverend Anderson, and Gabriel Bateman (Stalker) as Joshua Austin. It is produced for CINEMAX by FOX International Studios (FIS), and also executive produced by David Alpert, Sharon Tal Yguado and Sue Naegle.
The pilot was directed by Adam Wingard (The Guest).
