by Otep will release a new album, Generation Doom, on April 15th, and so far what’s been coming our way has sounded good, angry, and aggressive. Historically, listeners could always hear various influences in her music, from classic rock to hip-hop, but, to my knowledge, nothing quite as pop oriented as the latest single, “In Cold Blood.”
Of course, everyone will have his/her own opinion about the song, but for my tastes, if I put on an Otep album, I expect to hear Otep, not Lady Gaga.
Also, with a title like “In Cold Blood” I just naturally think of Johnny Thunders, which is light years better than this.
