The Japanese rage-filled radioactive reptile is back! And the King of Toho monsters looks meaner than ever in the first official trailer for Godzilla: Resurgence. The teaser was shared yesterday, which features tons of footage from the upcoming film on Godzilla’s home turf in Japan.
The first thing fans will quickly notice is the design of the creature. Godzilla looks identical to the costume version in 2004’s Godzilla: Final Wars, which was the last Godzilla sequel filmed in Japan. The main difference, Godzilla is completely done in CGI like in last year’s American reboot of Godzilla. And the reptile has killer red stripes appearing across the back of his body. Godzilla looks brutal and I can’t wait to see him wreak havoc in Japan against thousands of tanks and helicopters.
The film is co-directed by Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi with the screenplay written by Anno and the special effects directed by Higuchi. Godzilla Resurgence is scheduled to be released on July 29, 2016.
