Canelo Alvarez had a huge victory in the world of boxing last night. For those who missed the devastating right hook that knocked out his opponent, Amir Khan, can now watch the replay of the punch that sent Khan to the floor in the 6th round.
The event took place on May 7, 2016 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alvarez (47-1-1) faced Kahn (31-4) in the main event. Canelo and Khan went toe to toe for the first five rounds, but the power of Canelo proved to be too much for Khan, whose chin was tested very early in the fight.
According to reports, the fight sold more than 2 million PPV buys on HBO. Canelo’s last fight against Miguel Cotto last November brought in 900,000 PPV buys.
Canelo, 25, retained his piece of the middleweight title, but it was not without some nervous moments for his fans. Promoter Oscar De La Hoya revealed that Khan was taken to hospital on “precautionary grounds”.
Amir is OK but he has gone to the hospital just to be checked out.
