That fancy and secure door with the words “don’t open dead inside” from the first season of The Walking Dead will be seen by millions once again.
Universal Studios Hollywood is making a one-of-a-kind walk-through attraction based on AMC’s record-breaking television series, The Walking Dead, and there’s already a date attached to the grand opening day. That’s right! The eagerly-awaited Walking Dead experience will debut on Monday, July 4, 2016.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated opening, Universal Studios has unveiled the first behind-the-scenes look at the making of The Walking Dead attraction with KNB Efx’s Greg Nicotero explaining some of the effort put in to make the props look authentic to the show.
Nicotero said,
After six years of working on ‘The Walking Dead,’ we have a great opportunity to take ‘The Walking Dead’ out of the studio, off the soundstage and into an attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood where guests can come face-to-face with walkers
He continued,
It’s very exciting to be able to make the attraction as 100 percent authentic as possible. We’re getting the chance to utilize molds that were created specifically for the show and translate them into parts of the attraction. We’re creating animatronic walkers that guests will be able to see…it’s never been done before….it’s one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art….and I can’t wait.
The The Walking Dead attraction will be located within an entirely new, custom built structure, situated within an expansive building complex just inside the theme park’s main entry.
