Bill Skarsgard Confirmed As Pennywise In Stephen King’s IT Reboot

IT - Pennywise

It sounds like Stephen King’s IT reboot is picking up some momentum again as New Line sets sight on a new actor to play the villain in the two-part film.

In our previous report, Will Poulter from The Maze Runner was being considered for the role of Pennywise in the upcoming adaptation, but new reports now suggest otherwise. According to The Hollywood Reporter, 25-year-old Swedish actor Bill Skarsgard (Hemlock Grove, The Divergent Series: Allegiant) has been officially cast as the nefarious clown originally portrayed by Tim Curry in Tommy Lee Wallace’s 1990 TV adaptation. Due to project being delayed for a year, Poulter was no longer available for the role.

The IT reboot is being produced by Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, although there is no definitive start date for the project. Andy Muschietti (Mama) will direct the film from a screenplay he’s writing with Gary Doberman.

The first part of IT is targeted for a September 8th, 2017 release from Warner Bros.
