Amnesia-Rockfest_1-960x560

Two and a half days of heavy metal and punk rock festivities gets underway on Thursday, June 23rd, at the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Quebec. Now, if you take a look at the schedule you will see that the main days are the 24th and 25th, and those are the days that we’re going to concern ourselves with here. However, this list is dedicated to the 24th, and the bands that are piquing our interest and think that maybe you should make an effort to see as well.

So, let’s just get this underway. In no particular order, here are 12 bands to see on the 24th at Amnesia Rockfest 2016:

Twisted Sister

7:30, Jagermeister stage

Twisted Sister is an icon of ‘80s heavy metal and somewhat of an institution for those who’ve gone beyond the hits, which are great, but also a point of teasing for those who have no fucking idea just how fucking awesome this band is!

If you have never seen TS live, this might be your last chance as the band is on the 40 and Fuck It – The Final Tour.

Cannibal Corpse

3:00, Jagermeister stage

See this band, because, hell, would there be death metal or songs about cumming blood without them?

The Creepshow

12:45, Tony Sly 1

This Canadian psychobilly band has had a tough run with members in its 11-year existence, but I’ve liked just about every version. And what’s not to like… rockabilly, horror-themed lyrics and videos, and just a fun vibe. You know the crowd for this is going to vibrant and full of energy.

Jane’s Addiction

11:00, Jagermeister stage

Jane’s Addiction has only put out four studio albums since 1988, and they’ve walked the relevancy line for as many years. Due in part to hiatuses and other projects, the band has never taken a huge cultural hold, yet they are one of those bands that everyone knows. They’ve got some great tunes, and there’s no doubt that they put on an excellent show.

NOFX

5:15, Budweiser stage

Because we all want more beer. That’s a good enough reason as any.

Max & Igor Cavalera Back to Roots

1:30, Jagermeister stage

It might not be a full Sepultura reunion, but it’s the roots, so to speak. And this is Max and Igor on tour playing the *Roots album in its entirety to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Puscifer

9:00, Jagermeister stage

Most of us would rather have Tool, but Maynard James Keenan in any form or capacity is always welcome and incredible.

Ghoulunatics

6:00, Quebec flag stage

Because horror and metal!

Comeback Kid

2:10, Tony Sly 2

Because there just aren’t enough Canadian hardcore bands.

Madball

8:00, Tony Sly 2

Because NYHC is some of the best hardcore you will ever sink your teeth into.

Lagwagon

8:20, Tony Sly 2

It’s punk and it’s good.

Dead Kennedys

9:50, Tony Sly 2

Punk legends. The Dead Kennedys were one of the first significant punk bands, so if you’re a dyed-in-the-wool punk fan, you might want to skip Blink-182.
