There’s much more great horror news coming your way this weekend. We just got word Kino Lorber has announced a new Blu-ray and DVD release of 1965’s The Skull, which starred the frequently paired horror actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, alongside Patrick Wymark, Jill Bennett, Nigel Green, Patrick Magee and Peter Woodthorpe.
The 51 year-old horror thriller was one of a few British horror films of the sixties to be scored by avant-garde composer Elisabeth Lutyens, including several others for Amicus. The script was penned by Milton Subotsky, from a short story by Robert Bloch, “The Skull of the Marquis de Sade”.
The Blu-ray/DVD release is expected to feature some bonus material, but we’ll announce them as soon as they’re revealed.
Synopsis
The skull of the Marquis de Sade has been taken from its grave, bringing terror to those who own it. Demonologist Christopher Maitland (Peter Cushing) is eager to add the piece to his occult collection. Despite the warnings of a friend (Christopher Lee), he’s got to have it. And does he ever get it.
