The rumors have proven to be true once again. Conor McGregor has been selected by the UFC to headline UFC 205 in New York City. McGregor will get his chance to make history by potentially winning another UFC belt.
That’s right! The Irish sensation will be officially facing Eddie Alvarez at 155-pounds for the lightweight title. A belt which Alvarez recently earned by defeating Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 in July 2016. Alvarez was expected to face Khabib Nurmagomedov at either UFC 205 or UFC 206, but the decision was in McGregor’s favor for the UFC and the lightweight champion. I guess Alvarez is looking for that big pay day, he finally got it!
As for Nurmagomedov, he is clearly pissed about the situation, who was publicly promised a title shot by UFC President Dana White. He calls the title fight between McGregor and Alvarez “bullshit.”
UFC 205: McGregor vs. Alvarez will be held on November 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
