It’s officially Thanksgiving in the U.S. so it’s a perfect time for 20th Century Fox to tease Alien fans a bit on the upcoming prequel/sequel in the franchise.
That’s right! A few hours ago the studio unveiled the first official teaser poster for Alien: Covenant with an eerie tag line “Run.” Right below it features the gleaming dome, acidic saliva, and terrifying teeth of a Xenomorph. As well as the theatrical release date.
Director Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction.
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant stars Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice), Demián Bichir (The Bridge), Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Amy Seimetz (The Sacrament), Jussie Smollett (Empire), Carmen Ejogo (The Purge: Anarchy), Callie Hernandez (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Spotlight).
There are multiple rumors that Noomi Rapace was spotted on the set for the film in Australia. If Rapace is back she would most likely reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw from Prometheus.
The film is currently scheduled for release on May 19, 2017.
