Is Conor McGregor Really Planning A Move Toward Boxing?

Conor McGregor

Getting one belt stripped from the UFC may have just pushed Conor McGregor to his limits. A limit which might potentially motivate the Irish sensation to move over to the world of professional boxing.

Earlier this week, the UFC stripped McGregor of the featherweight title following a brash decision from the promotion to have two fighters compete for an interim featherweight title at UFC 206 because Daniel Cormier was forced to pull out of the main event due to an injury. The winner of UFC 206 will eventually get a shot at the official featherweight title, which is now held by former champion Jose Aldo.

McGregor has not made a comment on the matter yet, but it clearly appears like he is making serious moves behind the scene. According to California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster, McGregor has been issued a boxing license in California.

He got a license today and a federal ID, he’s a California boxer now.

Foster also added,

He’s qualified [as a boxer], I’d love to see him fight in California. It just needs to be the right opponent. Certainly a high-level opponent. We’re happy to license him. We’re happy he’s a California fighter.

Is this McGregor’s first real move to get one step closer to Floyd Mayweather Jr.? Let us know the comment section below.
