Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis won’t be fighting for the interim featherweight title this weekend after all.
According to multiple MMA sources, Pettis couldn’t make the 145-pound weight limit for his title bout against Max Holloway at UFC 206. At the early morning official weigh-ins for UFC 206, Pettis came in around 148-pounds while his Hawaiian opponent nailed the weight limit on the nose.
Fans of UFC 206 shouldn’t worry too much because the bout appears to be still on. However, the stakes for both fighters has changed. If Holloway defeats Pettis in the main event he will still be handed the interim featherweight title, but if Pettis wins he won’t get the belt at all. Pettis will also have to forfeit 20 percent of his purse to Holloway for missing the weight this morning.
UFC 206: Holloway vs. Pettis will be held on December 10, 2016 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario,
