James Cameron Returning To The Terminator Franchise

Terminator

And so the saga of the Terminator franchise will be back on track in the hands of the man who created it over 25 years ago, James Cameron. Following the success of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which is widely considered the best sequel ever made in the history of cinema, it was never a plan for the Canadian director to be involved in a third Terminator film.

Cameron moved on from Skynet and continued to make other successful hits such as True Lies, Titanic, and Avatar. The Terminator was truly lost in back of his mind, but unexpectedly the renowned director could once again have creative control over his gem, which has been pretty much gone sour with other filmmakers, especially Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and the latest installmentTerminator: Genisys. Both clearly sucked and should have never been made.

Cameron who regains certain rights to his prized creation The Terminator in 2019, is planning a new iteration of the sci-fi film to bring it back to proper form and make a version fans really want to see. Sources close to Cameron said that he is in early talks with Deadpool director and VFX master Tim Miller to direct a reboot and conclusion of the battle between humans and Skynet.

David Ellison, CEO and producer of Skydance Media is currently looking to bring talented sci-fi writers on board to create the story for the new Terminator film. At the moment, there’s still no word if it will be a direct sequel to Terminator: Genisys or a completely new reboot.
