A simplified definition of “Solstice” is “a turning point,” which appropriately is the title of the new album from Canadian metalcore band, The Northern.
The release, their Tragic Hero Records debut, is a deeply personal album as the band worked hard to encompass who they are, not only as musicians and as individuals. The band explained:
Solstice to us represents the accumulation of our musical personalities, both emotionally and technically. We strove to create a work that fully embodied our personal experiences and life-long aspirations in the industry. The album itself, as it is named Solstice captures the light and dark moments we find ourselves cycling through in life just as the sun cycles through the season’s solstice and equinox. As a new season begins so dawns a new era for The Northern.
The Northern has been gaining national attention ever since the release of their first single, “Nauticus” (ft. Michael Labelle of A Skylit Drive/Horcrux), and the band couldn’t be more thankful for the support surrounding the release:
We are ecstatic about the out pour of positivity and encouragement surrounding the release of Solstice. We look forward to what the future holds.
Solstice is available digitally on all major streaming platforms while physical copies along with merch are available at Merchbucket and MerchNow.
