The Conjuring franchise introduced two evil entities in the past few years, which have been further explored in spinoffs such as Annabelle and soon to expand the eerie story of the ghostly Nun encountered by paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren in The Conjuring 2.
Word on the street is that New Line Cinema is definitely moving forward with the newest spinoff entitled The Nun from a screenplay penned by horror master James Wan and Gary Dauberman, with Wan and Peter Safran producing the project.
According to Deadline, up-and-coming director Corin Hardy who previously helmed the well-received horror film The Hollow is attached to direct The Nun. At the moment, plot the details are unknown, but there’s a good chance the film will explain the backstory of the creepy nun, a character played by Bonnie Aarons in The Conjuring 2. Hardy is also rumored to potentially direct the long-awaited reboot of The Crow.
A sequel to Annabelle is currently in the pipeline with a release date scheduled for August 11th, 2017. It will be directed by Lights Out director David F. Sandberg.
