Ron Perlman’s wish for third installment in the Hellboy franchise won’t come true after all. After many attempts to revive the saga of Hellboy which is loosely based on the Dark Horse Comics graphic novel by Mike Mignola, it’s been 100% confirmed that Hellboy 3 won’t ever happen.
Mexican film director, screenwriter, producer, and novelist, Guillermo del Toro, who directed both Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), revealed on Tuesday via Twitter that a third Hellboy will not happen after speaking will all parties involved in the film franchise.
Del Toro said,
Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen. And that is to be the final thing about it.
Pretty sad to hear that Perlman won’t ever don the Hellboy suit again, but hopefully the beloved character will continue to live on in the comic series and through other forms of media. Speaking of graphic novels, Dark Horse recently released a Hellboy Winter Special in January.
Three weird tales show the world of Hellboy through the years, with Edward Grey appearing alongside Sarah Jewell, hero of the recent Rise of the Black Flame series in 1890s London. In 1980s New England, Hellboy, Abe Sapien, and Liz Sherman set out on a simple search for some missing kids and encounter a tormented spirit seeking to share its pain.
