It looks like TNT’s Tales from the Crypt reboot is alive and well. Fans of the series are finally introduced to show in the very first teaser trailer, which is also followed by a featurette with polarizing filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (Sixth Sense, Split), who talks a bit about some the things to expect in the horror anthology.
Unfortunately, the Crypt Keeper does not make an appearance in Shyamalan’s trailer, but he does confirm the wise-cracking story teller with the creepy laugh will “definitely” be back. But in what shape or form is still yet to be seen. I guess the mystery behind the Crypt Keeper will be officially revealed in the Season 1 premiere.
As far as how each segments of the show will be told, Shyamalan previously said that it would be in the same vein as Black Mirror, a fantastically dark and clever British series that take aspects of modern technology to sometimes absurdist extremes in each episode.
You know, I can’t say 100% but I’m thinking right now, where I am, if you’d asked me this six months ago I would have a different answer, but where I am right now it’s more individual Black Mirror kind of stuff right now.
The new Tales From the Crypt TV show is expected to launch in the fall.
