Former reigning WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes will be finally making his UFC debut in June following multiple title defences at 135-pounds.
On Thursday, various MMA sources including MMAFighting.com report the former WSOF bantamweight kingpin is expected to make his promotional debut at UFC 212 against a top five ranked fighter, Raphael Assuncao.
Moraes (18-4-1) recently inked a deal with the UFC after his WSOF contract expired in 2016. Prior to his UFC deal, the 28-year-old Brazilian was considered the best unsigned 135-pound prospect for the UFC. He has been unstoppable since December 2011. Moraes holds wins over notable fighters such as Miguel Torres, Tyson Nam, Carson Beebe, Cody Bollinger, Josenaldo Silva, and among many others.
Assuncao is currently ranked No.4 in the official UFC bantamweight rankings. Since his UFC debut in 2011, the Brazilian was only defeated twice. In January, he was victorious against Aljamain Sterling at UFC on Fox: Shevchenko vs. Peña via split decision.
UFC 212: Aldo vs. Holloway will be held on June 3, 2017 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
