“The Bull” is now stepping in to face the young prospect Sage Northcutt at UFC 214. Will this give John Makdessi the chance to get back on track to winning more fights again, or the complete opposite?
It’s soon to be determined.
According to multiple MMA sources, including MMAfighting.com, Makdessi has accepted to replace Claudio Puelles at UFC 214, who apparently is reported injured. Initially, Neil Davidson from The Canadian Press dropped the news followed by a confirmation by the UFC on Tuesday.
Makdessi, 32, is one of the most well-known Canadian MMA fighters who has been competing in the UFC since 2010. He has notable wins over Sam Stout, Daron Cruickshank, Renée Forte, Shane Campbell, and most recently Mehdi Baghdad. Makdessi has been somewhat losing as of late since his loss to Donald Cerrone. “The Bull” lost via TKO after his jaw was broken with a head kick in the second round.
UFC 214: Cormier vs. Jones 2 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on July 29.
