Conor McGregor Confirms He Wants Khabib Nurmagomedov Next In Russia

Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

There’s been lots of speculation that Conor McGregor won’t return inside the Octagon after his epic cross-over superfight with Floyd Mayweather next month. But it appears like the two-division UFC champion still has plans to compete at 155-pounds.

Following numerous interviews during the Mayweather vs. McGregor world tour over the past few days, McGregor confirmed he indeed would like to face No.1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia at a future date in the UFC, perhaps at the end of the year.

Speaking to BT Sport McGregor said,

That’s certainly an option that I’m exploring. That would be a spectacle. It’d be like something out of Rocky. I suppose this whole story is like a Rocky story, right? So why not face a man in his home country, and a crazy place like Russia. It’s certainly something I’d like to do. There’s a couple of options on the table so let’s see what unfolds.

Many believe McGregor will be out for many months after his clash with boxing great Mayweather due to injury, but the Irish sensation believes he will “come out of this fight without a scratch.”

I believe so. I believe I’ll come out of this fight without a scratch. [Take] a couple weeks to refresh my jiu-jitsu and my wrestling – not that I’ve stopped training that either, I’ve still kept up on that, just less – and then we’ll see what happens.

Mayweather vs. McGregor takes place on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Nev.
