UFC 217 is starting to shape up to be a fantastic fight card for New York MMA hounds. Besides a middleweight title fight between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre, the UFC has added a second title bout to UFC 217.
On Wednesday night, the promotion released an update on Cody Garbrandt’s next fight. The bantamweight champion will indeed defend his belt against former Team Alpha Male teammate T.J. Dillashaw in the co-main event. The two men were supposed to meet at UFC 213 last month in Las Vegas, but Garbrandt was forced to pull out due to a back injury.
Following the back injury, Dillashaw lobbied to move down to flyweight and challenge Demetrious Johnson for the belt, but that idea was turned down by the champion for ethic reasons.
Garbrandt vs. Dillashaw is officially scheduled for UFC 217 on Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden.
