Primitive Race, the hard rock/industrial hybrid helmed by Chris Kniker with core members Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission UK, Peter Murphy) and Erie Loch (Wiccid, Luxt), will release their new album, Soul Pretender, on November 3rd. But right now you can experience the killer new track, “Take it All,” at newnoisemagazine.com. The track has a slight surfer vibe, a definite ’80s sound, and it absolutely kicks ass with Chuck Mosley (ex-Faith No More) vocals being as fresh as ever.
About “Take it All,” Kniker commented:
On ‘Take it All,’ Chuck Mosley came up with great honest and dark lyrics that I think are relatable for the listener. There is a certain beauty and grittiness that coexist in the song, which makes it one of my favorites on the record.
As was the case with the band’s debut, Kniker brought an impressive group of guest musicians into the Primitive Race fold, with the full album featuring vocals by former Faith No More singer Chuck Mosley and drums by the Melvins’ Dale Crover. The album was produced by the band’s core trio, with Kniker recruiting Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Sepultura) for mastering, Toshi Kasai (Melvins, Helmet) for engineering, and Joe Haze (tweaker, PIG) for mixing.
