Following a stellar performance against Josh Emmett in February, knockout artist Jeremy Stephens will now get a shot at the former reigning UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo.
That’s right! Aldo vs. Stephens is officially booked as the co-main event of a UFC on FOX show scheduled for the Scotia Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. This will mark UFC’s first trip back to Calgary since UFC 149 in 2012. At the moment, the main event is Nicco Montano’s first title defense vs. Valentina Shevchenko, which is not set in stone just yet.
Aldo is currently riding his first losing streak of his entire career in the UFC. The Brazilian has two consecutive loses to UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway, who stopped him both times in 2017 by TKO punches. As for Stephens, well he is on the opposite side of Aldo. The American mixed martial artist is on a three fight win streak over top contenders such as Doo Ho Choi and Gilbert Melendez.
Several other bouts have been confirmed for the event in Calgary and we expect more to be announced shortly.
Stay tuned to Yell! Magazine for those updates.
