Tony Ferguson defeated Anthony Pettis last night at UFC 229 in spectacular fashion. Both men put on a striking show for the fans, which pretty much ended early in the co-main event.
Anthony Pettis’ longtime coach and cornerman Duke Rufus was forced to inform Herb Dean to stop the fight after he learned his fighter broke his hand in the second round. Ferguson ended up winning via TKO (corner stoppage), which earned them both fighters a Fight of the Night bonus.
Following the win, Ferguson expressed his thoughts in the post-fight presser about the main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. Saying that both are making the “sport look bad.”
I’m the f*cking champ. You guys realize that, right?, I’ve been the champ. I am the champ. You have these two knuckleheads over there making this sport look bad. … I don’t have a belt up here, I don’t need to have a belt up here to be the champ. So if you guys want to feed that, go ahead, put that in your pocket and take it with you.
In addition, Ferguson also mentioned that he doesn’t believe McGregor deserves a rematch after tapping in the fourth round.
Rematch? The dude got finished. Dude got straight up finished. If you got finished, you need to move the f**k on.
