Andy The Kid Covers Pendulum’s “The Island” [VIDEO]

Renowned Australian bassist for many hard rock and heavy metal bands — including We Are the Riot (with Coal Chamber members), Wayne Static, and Dope — Andy the Kid (aka, Andy Cole) has put together a solo project and a new EP, Linchpin. The latest track, and lyric video to emerge is the cover of Pendulum’s “The Island.” Although it has more of a rock edge than the original, it still has a feel good vibe about it. For the track, Andy called in the talents of Aaron Nordstrom from Gemini Syndrome for guest vocals. Check it out in the player above.

About the EP, Andy the Kid says:

Writing and recording this EP has been a cathartic experience that has put a big fat exclamation mark on what has been a tumultuous journey since moving to the States… It was extremely important to put a cover on the record that showcased Australian music, and I’ve loved Pendulum for many years, just knowing they’re Australian makes me very proud and inspired… The video was an extremely fun experience. It was shot in one take, with two iPhones, two Stage Ninja Scorpion phone holders, and with $10 in my pocket. It took a fair bit of coordination, but I feel like it turned out great. Gone are the days where I feel thousands have to be spent on video production. The technology to achieve visual media is at our finger tips, and it just takes a little initiative to learn.
