Aljamain Sterling Releases Statement After Brutal Knockout

Former WSOF Bantamweight Champion Marlon Moraes scored his second win in the UFC last night against Aljamain Sterling. A lightweight bout, which lasted a little over a minute.

Moraes made a quick return to the Octagon as he stepped in to replace Rani Yahya against Sterling at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Ortega on December 9, 2017. As a result, Moraes won the fight via knockout in the first round with a brutal knee which sent Sterling to the matte and left him unconscious for several scary seconds.

Following the loss, Sterling released a statement via Twitter, giving credit to Moraes and addressing the “nasty knee.”

Hats off to Marlon. Thought I timed the TD perfectly and he was able to land a nasty knee. Sucks to be the nail, but this is the fight game. I’m ok for all those asking.

Moraes, 29, also scored his first Performance of the Night bonus award in the UFC. He now holds notables wins over Sterling and John Dodson under the UFC umbrella.

For those missed the KO can now watch a replay in the video embedded on this page.
