There’s just something about synthwave and dark synth that’s just captivating and compelling. Although it’s compelling and hypnotic, synth might be best consumed in small doses at a time. It certainly takes you on a journey, and it’s hot right now. Das Mörtal is the latest to come to our attention, and the new video for “The Curse” is amazing and plays right into the hearts of any horror fan.
Das Mörtal, aka, Cristóbal Cortes, the Montreal-based synthwave artist who drew attention for his 2014 score for Naissance d’un Zombie and subsequent releases including Hotline Miami II and Always Loved, has debuted a video for “The Curse,” which you can see on this page.
The song comes from Das Mörtal’s full-length album, Always Loved. The video was directed by Pablo Escobar Tuduri and is a tongue-in-cheek ode to ’80s slasher films.
Das Mörtal recently announced a North American tour, which kicks off on April 5th, in Boston (all dates below, including a recently added Los Angeles performance).
Das Mörtal initially received attention for the three-track Hotline Miami II, which was followed by the release of Always Loved, as well as a fall 2017 tour with Perturbator.
