Dead Cross, on the back of their storming European tour, which included an unforgettable surprise show in London, have unveiled a video for “Church of the Motherfuckers (Planet B Remix),” which you can watch on this page.
The track is from the foursome’s recently released self-titled EP, available now via Ipecac Recordings.
Vocally, there’s obviously Mike Patton’s stamp, and with Planet B, the hip-hop element really comes through. There’s also an industrial metal vibe throughout. Lyrically, this is a tough subject, being that it’s about sexual abuse toward kids within the Church.
Justin Pearson explains the song and the Israel Henshaw and Jay Strickland directed clip
This is meant to be an extension to the original ‘Church of the Motherfuckers’ video.” Perhaps an interpretation but a realistic view of organized religion in the real world, and in modern times, which is unfortunate. Are we free in this world? This is Jesus Christ, this is religion.
Planet B is the project from Pearson and Luke Henshaw (Sonido de la Frontera). The duo’s music lays somewhere just out of reach of genre, with aesthetics rooted in hip-hop, hardcore punk, turntablism, and ’70s/’80s horror movie soundtracks, all of which influenced this remix.
