According to early reports, in the new Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D, players won’t be able to delete their save files from their cartridges. The game manual states that “Saved data on this software cannot be reset.” In other words, once you start a file, there is no turning back. Your game progress is on that cart forever.
I understand that game developers are trying to find ways to deter used games sales, and I admit, this is a pretty cleaver one. Would you buy a completed game with everything already unlocked? That would be like buying a book, skimming through the chapters, and reading the end. You get the gist of it, but not exactly a satisfying experience. Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D is out now on the Nintendo 3DS.
