Last night, Hideo Kojima played his game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes at the Tokyo Games Show. Ground Zeroes is the prologue to Phantom Pain in the twin game Metal Gear Solid V, which will be available on current and next-gen consoles, with a PC version to be announced.
In the MGSV demo we can see that stealth obviously has remained intact, but we also get a peak at a the new X-ray vision feature and Snake’s ability to pick locks and drive vehicles. It’s notable that MGSV is the first game in the franchise to be open world.
Other aspects of the game that we know is that Ground Zeroes takes place in Cuba; as part of the timeline continuation from Peace Walkers, Big Boss is sent on a mission to rescue Chico and Paz; using your binoculars, you can tag enemy locations on your map; enemies can be interrogated for more information; day/night cycles are in real time; a game mechanic will slow down time for a moment when an enemy spots you; you’ll be able to operate just about any vehicle you come across; by the time Phantom Pain commences, Big Boss/Snake has been in a coma for nine years; Snake gets a new cybernetic arm;
We’re assuming that MGSV is going to be a pretty big game (is that an understatement?) when it finally hits the street. However, there’s still no word on when that will be.
