Last week, Anderson Silva’s longtime manager Ed Soares said that they’re interested in taking a fight with Nick Diaz for a potential bout in early 2015. If Silva plans to return this year, which could be in December, it would have to mean one of the fighters on his comeback list agrees to fight this year. Soares revealed a few names like Cung Le and Michael Bisping, but it sounds like Diaz is the one they’re eyeing the most.
During a post-fight presser for the upcoming UFC 174 pay-per-view event, Dana White expressed his thoughts on Anderson Silva vs. Nick Diaz, and isn’t convinced Silva can drop down to 170 pounds:
I think it’d be tough for Anderson to make 170 [pounds], a few years ago he was saying he could do it, but I don’t know about now. You’re not getting any younger.
However, he wouldn’t say “no” to it, if both UFC fighters agree to step inside the Octagon together:
Anderson wants to fight Nick. Nick wants to fight Anderson, why would I say no?
Is this the fight that will force Diaz out of retirement? So far everyone seems to think it is.
