Resident Evil: Revelations, a video game deemed as a financial hit last year by Capcom is getting a sequel. Capcom producer Masachika Kawata gave the official word on Resident Evil: Revelations 2 during a Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia presser on Monday.
The existence of Resident Evil: Revelations 2 first came to reality last month after a box art and screenshot leaked online for Bio Hazard: Revelations 2 on a French gaming site. An identical game, but with a different title that is used in Japan since the franchise kick started in 1996. According to Kawata, Revelations 2 is currently being developed by the core members of the first entry. It will be set in a new time period and setting all together, rather than in between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 that Revelations originally was. The survival horror will also feature new protagonists, so say goodbye for now to long-time characters: Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield.
No other detail was revealed by Kawata, however, he did say that Capcom has plans to release much more information next week with a playable demo during this month’s Tokyo Game Show in Japan.
Lastly, Capcom also confirmed Revelations 2 launches early in 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
