Since 2010, American mixed martial artist Phil Davis had a solid run in the UFC with notable wins over top ranked fighters such as Alexander Gustafsson and Lyoto Machida, and only three strikes under his belt to date. His most recent loss was against Ryan Bader in January by split decision.
With a career like that in the UFC it’s kind of hard to imagine him fighting under another roof. According to sources close to Davis, the 30 year old is ready to move on from the Zuffa-owned banner. In fact, Bellator just announced that “Mr. Wonderful” signed a multi-contract deal with the promotion on Wednesday.
Davis said the following in a statement:
I can’t wait to be fighting in Bellator and wreck shop on everyone, I am the absolute best and most dominant grappler to ever fight in MMA and I’m excited to get in there and compete at my new home.
There’s no official word on when he will debut in Bellator yet, but you can expect to see him fight on the next big card.
It’s a “wonderful" day here at #BellatorMMA. Proud to welcome @philmrwonderful to the family! https://t.co/Kr5eW0RgfP pic.twitter.com/0oGkXBIDty
