Anderson Silva Tests Positive For Steroid and Diuretic in USADA Pre-Fight Drug Test

Anderson Silva

As many of you already know Anderson Silva was pulled in November from his bout with Kevin Gastelum for failing a USADA pre-fight drug test.

The sample from Silva was collected on October 26th, which contained illegal substances. According to sources such as MMAfighting.com, the former UFC middleweight champion had both methyltestosterone (steroid) and a diuretic turn up in his system. Methyltestosterone is considered an anabolic agent in the UFC anti-doping policy, which carries a maximum suspension of two years. The 42-year-old MMA veteran denied knowingly using these banned substances and is currently going through the adjudication process with USADA.

The Brazilian hasn’t fought since UFC 208 in February 2017, where he beat Dereck Brunson via unanimous decision. That win broke a string of five consecutive outings without a victory. At the moment, any suspension of any length could potentially the end Silva’s career inside the Octagon.
